The Prime Minister has officially approved the plan to establish the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone, covering approximately 20.000 hectares. This is expected to be a strategic turning point, opening up new opportunities for socio-economic development in the entire Red River Delta region, while also providing significant potential for growth in the construction and industrial infrastructure markets in the coming period.
Expanding the strategic economic space
According to the latest approval decision from the Government, the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone (SEZ) will be the second SEZ of the port city, following the success of the Dinh Vu - Cat Hai SEZ. The project has a planned area of approximately 20.000 hectares, located in the southern districts and counties including: Do Son, Kien Thuy, Tien Lang and Vinh Bao.
Experts assess the location of the new economic zone as possessing a superior strategic advantage in terms of multimodal connectivity. The area is situated near the coastal road, directly connecting to the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway, Cat Bi International Airport, and, importantly, is planned to connect with the Nam Do Son deep-water port system and the future Tien Lang International Airport. This infrastructure support facilitates the Southern Economic Zone's easy integration into the global logistics supply chain.

Shaping the next-generation industrial hub.
Unlike traditional models, the South Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone is oriented towards development as an ecological, circular, and smart economic zone. The core objective of the project is to attract high-quality investment capital (FDI and DDI) in high-tech fields, semiconductor industry, electronics, machinery manufacturing, and modern logistics services.
The establishment of a large-scale economic zone in the South will not only alleviate infrastructure pressure on the current northern Hai Phong area, but also create a balance in the city's urban-industrial spatial development strategy. This will serve as a springboard for Hai Phong to continue maintaining its position as one of the leading localities nationwide in terms of economic growth rate and attracting foreign investment.
Great opportunities for the Construction and Infrastructure Development industry.
From the perspective of developers and construction contractors, the approval of the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone opens a new chapter with a huge volume of work and opportunities for cooperation.
In the initial phase, the need for investment and construction of key technical infrastructure is extremely urgent, including: main transportation systems, land leveling, water supply and drainage systems, wastewater treatment, and industrial power grids. Subsequently, the shift of secondary investors will strongly stimulate demand in the industrial factory construction segment, logistics warehouses, supporting urban areas, and housing for experts/workers.
For capable and experienced construction companies, this is a golden opportunity to proactively access planning information, prepare human resources, technology, and finance to secure large contracts, and assert their position in one of the most dynamic development hubs in the North.
The official launch of the Southern Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone is not only good news for the local economy, but also a positive signal to accelerate the entire infrastructure construction industry in the new development cycle.
