With its position as one of five centrally run cities and the economic engine of the Northern Region, this City commits to continue to synchronously and drastically implement solutions, immersing itself in the rhythm of development. General development of the country...
Speaking at the 2024 Development Bridge Forum with the theme “Vietnam's process of developing green and sustainable economic zones: From Government policies to local and business initiatives and solutions”, on the afternoon of April 10, Mr. Le Tien Chau, Secretary of Hai Phong City Party Committee - said that Hai Phong is one of the pioneering localities in the country, implementing the National Strategy on green growth.
Strong potential
In the first quarter of 1, Hai Phong ranked first among the 2024 centrally run cities in GRDP growth (5%, 9,32 times higher than the national average increase).
In particular, in Hai Phong, DEEP C Industrial Park and Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park are oriented to develop into eco-industrial parks, and are pioneering in the construction of eco-industrial parks in Vietnam.
The world context is becoming very complicated, the crisis caused by climate change and natural resource depletion is posing many challenges, therefore, green and sustainable economic development is the key and the direction. Mandatory of countries globally and each locality, including Hai Phong.
From that reality, Mr. Chau proposed three main issues. Firstly, currently, the issue of sustainable development, net emissions or carbon neutrality is still quite new to the Vietnamese people.
The ones that play a leading role and strongly promote the commitment to net zero emissions are businesses. Therefore, Mr. Chau proposed that businesses must demonstrate a pioneering spirit and take the lead to implement green and sustainable economic development strategies.
On that basis, the Government and localities need to build a complete and comprehensive legal corridor and appropriate approach to encourage and create the most favorable conditions for businesses in the green transition process. , by immediately allowing the piloting of new, green, sustainable economic models.
Second, green transformation needs to have an appropriate roadmap, taking into account the specific conditions and different capacities of localities. For example, a locality with strengths in agriculture will need different requirements and roadmaps than a locality with an industrial development foundation. Therefore, localities across the country need to uphold the spirit of solidarity, cooperation, sharing and harmonizing benefits for the common goal of the Government.
Third, responding to the Government's strategic orientation on green and sustainable development, Hai Phong city is urgently researching and proposing to the Government to establish the southern coastal economic zone of Hai Phong according to regional orientation. the first green economy in Vietnam; At the same time, develop Cat Ba archipelago to become a "green" tourist destination.
Hai Phong hopes to receive the attention, support and facilitation of the Government, ministries, central branches and localities for this proposal.
